Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for people with disability in Uganda
CoRSU was established in 2006 as a private non-profit, nongovernmental
organization and is supported by CBM Christian Blind Mission. CoRSU provides
Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Rehabilitation, mainly for children
as well as adults with disability.

Job Summary The Project Coordinator shall execute the BMZ/CBM- CBID
project plan under a consortium of current partners working on different
aspects of disability management. The Project Coordinator shall coordinate the
consortium project where Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services For people
witth Disabilities in Uganda, CoRSU is the lead partner and will work in
close collaboration with the other consortium partners – Katalemwa Cheshire
Homes Uganda, KCH and Organized Useful Rehabilitation Services, OURS.
The job holder will coordinate the activities provided in the project workplan
within the respective region with OURS focusing on Western Uganda; KCH, in
East & Central Uganda and implementation of the project at CoRSU in central
Uganda. He/she will lead the reporting to the donor done by CoRSU after the
consolidation of information from the different partners.
The CBM BMZ project is designed with a duality of approaches to achieve 15,000
people with disabilities served by 2024 successfully with a variety of
disability programming initiatives in 10 districts of Uganda tooffer
rehabilitation approach by using community based inclusive development.
The Consortium will be based along Community Based Inclusive Development
approaches and rehabilitation approaches.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate the Project steering committee made of the Consortium Partner
CEOs and project lead officers per partner who will be instituted.
Organise quarterly steering committee meetings to monitor each result’s
progress, financial stewardship processes and progress per region.
Seek technical support and guidance from CBM Country office during the
project implementation process through the CoRSU management.
Coordinate activities of the M&E officers of each partner organization
working closely with the project staff to provide detailed monthly progress
reports .
Provide and/or share a detailed catch-up plans with the Project Steering
Committee where results are behind schedule or affected by unforeseen
circumstances.
Ensure joint coordination with the district key personnel such as the
District Health Officers, District Education Officers, Probation Officers and
District Development Officers is effectively done.
Ensure that shared learning and improvements in programming are carried
out to promote social inclusion of persons with disability.
Coordinate and manage the project baseline survey in the 10 districts
during the 1st year of the project.
Lead the evaluation at the end of the project as part of the project exit
strategy.
Ensure that each of the consortium partners has service level Memoranda of
Understanding MoUs with various District Local councils allowing their
operations within each of those districts and follow up on their renewal.
Support and organise the Consortium Partner staff’s training in the latest
technologies and support the partners to ensure compliance to donor guidelines
in the procurement of all project inputs needed.
Ensure that each of the Consortium partners identifies Health Centers,
Disabled Persons’ Organizations and other Community Based Organizations/Non-
Government Organizations that serve children.
Coordinate the consortium seeking to map government health facilities and
social protection programs to whom the Consortium will refer children and
families with people with disability.
Support the Consortium Partners to anticipate, plan and institute
sustainability mechanism for the project along the various considerations put
in place
Any other tasks required to efficiently manage the BMZ/CBM – CBID program
and other tasks assigned and agreed with the supervisor.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The applicant must hold a Master’s Degree in Project Planning and
Management, Finance, Social Sciences, Humanities, Development Studies or a
related field.
Or; a relevant postgraduate qualification in Project Planning and
Management on top of a graduate-level degree in Project Management, Finance,
Social Sciences, Humanities, Development Studies.
A relevant qualification such as Project Management Professional PMP
certification and experience.
At least Five 5 years’ experience managing Grant/Projects providing
support to medium to large scale projects.
Dynamic professional with experience in overseeing project plans,
coordination, monitoring and evaluation of medium to large projects.
Strong project management and reporting skills.
Must be able to provide technical advice and support to the consortium
partners.
Ability to work closely with the project accountant and collaboratively
with the multi-disciplinary teams and consortium partners.
Knowledge of the medical rehabilitation care services within the central
and eastern regions.
Understanding of consortium partners’ administration systems as well as
that of CBM BMZ.
Knowledge and understanding of the ten 10 districts in the Central and
Eastern regions where CoRSU, KCH and OURS shall operate.
Knowledge and understanding of Performance Management Frameworks PMFs.
Good understanding of Results Based Management RBM.
Good working knowledge of internationally accepted rules governing
procurement of goods and services.
Good communications oral and written and presentation skills.
Ability to work under tight deadlines.
Excellent people management skills.
Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
Proficient in the use of different project management software and the
Microsoft Office Suite.
