About Cairo Bank Uganda

Cairo Bank Uganda was incorporated on 11th July, 1994. The Bank was formerly known as Cairo International Bank owned by the three leading Egyptian Banks namely; Banque Du Caire, Bank Misr and National Bank of Egypt. In 2019, it became a fully owned subsidiary of Banque Du Caire (BDC). The shareholder consolidation in 2019 was on the back of expanding its presence across Africa whilst providing an entry point into the COMESA market.

Job Summary

To plan, direct and control the development, implementation and maintenance of the Bank’s information and communication systems to support and contribute to the achievement of the Bank’s overall mission and core objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the Bank’s strategic and business plans, in relation to IT, to support the company’s mission and core objectives.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the bank’s business systems and automated processes to ensure that effective business processes
  • Develop the IT disaster recovery (DRP) and ensure that it is, implemented, tested and maintained.
  • Develop, implement and maintain a software management strategy that ensures compliance with the software licenses.
  • Develop, implement, maintain and proactively communicate IT policies and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient use of IT services across the Bank.
  • Ensure that all IT procurement is undertaken in accordance with the procurement policies and procedures, liaising with the Procurement department as appropriate
  • Take responsibility for I.T staff to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and trained and carry out their responsibilities to the required standards.
  • Ensure that the performance of IT staff is appraised and assessed in accordance with agreed standards, procedures and timetable.
  • Develop and implement data security policies by ensuring that these are monitored, enforced, and that information is stored and retained correctly.
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures to support IT Service Level Management, IT Change Management and IT Configuration Management.
  • Engage in IT research to bring on board new products that meet the bank’s customer needs

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Education:

  • First degree in the IT field
  • Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Business Computing
  • Additional international IT certifications are an added advantage

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ work experience, preferably in the financial services industry, with 5 years must be in senior management in IT or related fields.

Skills And Competencies:

  • Analytical Thinking: Acquiring understanding of a problem or situation by breaking it down systematically into its parts and identifying the relationships between these parts.
  • Information Acquisition: Identifying gaps in the available information required to understand a problem or situation and devising means of remedying such gaps.
  • Planning and Organisation: Determining a course of action by breaking it down into smaller steps and by planning and resourcing each of these, making allowance for potential problems.
  • Troubleshooting: Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about them.
  • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Inductive Reasoning: The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
